BYD Qin Plus DM-i Inspection: Engine, Battery and Charging
DM-i inspection needs both the engine and electrical system. A smooth electric drive does not establish engine condition, and the engine starting does not itself prove a fault. Identify the exact hybrid version and agree the inspection scope first.
Start with records and cold conditions
Match VIN, production period and hybrid identity to history and the quote. Ask for relevant servicing, repairs and storage information. A qualified inspector should assess cold-engine and fluid observations using the applicable procedure. Do not treat dashboard mileage or a short warmed-up video as a complete history check.
Assess systems together
Review relevant errors and safe normal engine-supported/hybrid operation. Record conditions and diagnostic limitations instead of relying on a single claimed battery percentage. A charge-level display is not health evidence. Investigate abnormal noise, warnings or behaviour professionally, without dangerous reproduction tests or high-voltage opening by the buyer.

Check charging and mechanical condition separately
Demonstrate supported charging on compatible equipment and inspect accessible underbody/enclosure condition appropriately. An engine-supported journey does not verify charging, and a charging session does not prove absence of physical damage. Keep AC/DC capability and the supplied kit tied to the actual edition.
Use findings for acceptance
List confirmed issues, unknowns, agreed work and available destination support with the accepted vehicle record. Stored new cars need preparation despite low mileage; used stock adds history and current condition. Warranty applicability is a separate written question, not an automatic consequence of battery branding or the seller location.
